 Cap’n, she’s losin’ power!
The internet circuit is in place in the new office, so we'll be doing the server move this week. If we can get everything lined up in time we'd like to do the move on Thursday (1/15), but we may end up waiting until Saturday (1/17). The server could be down for up to 36 hours depending on how exhausted we are after moving (i.e. before we get off our lazy butts and plug it back in). Cheers!

 2008 TIA Football Champion
The 2008 |TIA| Fantasy Football season is over and congratulations are in order for Marut! She was victorious in the championship versus GABRIEL, 85.00 - 52.50.
Here's the final standings as Yahoo will observe them:
1. Marut 2. GABRIEL 3. Mothfarmer 4. Joshiyama 5. Anteros 6. Krug 7. -Stryder- 8. Scrynne 9. Arkady 10. Dr Moocowz 11. comatoast 12. Quarmal
Thanks again to everyone for another successful year and already looking forward to the 2009 season!
This was quite a delayed interview from our resident interviewer, Moo. Being the first female to win one of TIA's fantasy sports leagues, there were swarms and swarms of media, fans, and agents around Marut as was extremely difficult to get a hold of for this historical occasion. Finally, after the new year started, Marut granted Moo the priviledge of conducting the interview for tribe-tia.org!
Moo: I'm here with Marut, the 2008 |TIA| Fantasy Football Champion. Congratulations on winning the league and getting your first football championship! How does it feel to be the winner?
Marut: It was fantastic to be the only girl who actually had a great team. I mean really I did all the work. I felt my team had a chance to win it all. It is my first time in many years of playing with TIA. It was a great year and a fine team.
Moo: Do you take any extra pride in winning being the first female to win one of the TIA fantasy championships?
Marut: Well yes! Women have many responisbilities too and to manage a team in a league like TIA with all the presure involved maintaining Battle Rockets. YAY team!
Moo: Now, your opponent in the championship, GABRIEL... Any of the long term, older Tribes people in TIA know for a fact that he's been a woman-hater for many years. How do you feel specifically about beating him in the championship match?
Marut: As a woman, I feel the love from the other league owners, some members are warmer than others. As for Gabriel I feel that women must have a strong influence on his teams performance. I personally feel a strong rivalary with the Rangers. Since we were 1-1 during the regular season. When I look back at the last regular season game. Rangers pumelled Rockets by 60 points and I still won the championship. That is woman power baby.
Moo: Let's switch gears a bit and talk about the actual team. Looking over the draft, you selected Carson Palmer in the 3rd round and obviously was going to be your main QB. However, you took Kurt Warner late in the 9th round and he turned out to be outstanding this year and one of your keys for success. Did you have a clue he was going to have a resurgent year like he did and who else on your team did you think were the biggest keys to winning?
Marut: I think Kurt Warner is HOT and that's what influcenced my decision on the later rounds. Tony Gonzalez was a key acquision for Rockets. It was a gamble but it obviously was a better choice with Thigpen starting for Chiefs. Jones-Drew and Portis each came in this season with over 200 fantasy points. My weakest player was the fool who wanted to be known as "Ocho Cinco" instead of his given name Chad Johnson.
Moo: I would be a failure of an interviewer if I didn't bring up your dear, sweet husband, Mothfarmer. Its been known over the years during fantasy matchups when you play each other that there is "no peace at home" during the week, especially when you got to play and defeat him during the semi-finals. What does it mean in your household to hold ultimate victory for the next year until the new season starts and the 2009 champion has been determined?
Marut: My coffee is hot and ready in the morning with cream. I am the one on top WOOT. I win!
Moo: Once again, congratulations on winning! Do you have any final thoughts to your competition, future competition, or just in general?
Marut: Well I'd like to thank the team for all the hard work, my family and friends for thier support. Winning the championship was a luxurious experience. I wish everyone could experience it just once, well except for Gabriel's Rangers. Women haters need to be crushed on every level.
Thank you Mr. Moo and see ya all next season!

 Planned Server Downtime
Please be advised that I'll be moving our office during the first half of January, so there will be an extended downtime of the server, possibly most of a day or an overnight. I'll post a notice here or send it out on the TIA newsletter mail list shortly before we make the move, but it will probably happen on a weekend to minimize the business service disruption.
The good news is we'll be upgrading from the current DSL connection (only 680k upstream) to a 15mbps down/2mbps up business-class connection. Finally you'll get snappy DLs on those WOWfest pictures. Yay!
Have fun and happy holidays, y'all!

 Prince Tenris Mirkblood
We'd always wondered about that door in the barracks past the kitchen. It was always locked. What on earth could be inside? How could we open it? We tried picking the lock: no go. We tried blowing it open: that door was stronger than it looked! So we gave up.
But then we heard a rumor, that the door might be open, that something might be lurking inside.... so of course we had to go find out!
We found this guy. So we killed him.

 Serpentshrine Cavern
Long had we wondered: why on earth were those naga draining Zangarmarsh? We had explored their slave pens where poor creatures were forced to work, wandered through a underground bog full of strange and dangerous creatures, and seen the making of strange machinery in their vault.
But finally, with the help of brave adventurers from Late Night who had already explored deeper than we, we entered the deepest cavern of all.
Down down down in the longest elevator we had ever seen. How deep was this place? Then we saw the water, teeming with nasty fish. But, as we killed the naga around the pool, the water began to boil, and the fish died. Yet it seemed something still lurked in the center:

 D&D Online Division Retires
On May 6th, 2008, |TIA|'s Dungeons & Dragons Online division ran their last mission. The DDO division came to a decision to end the 2+ year run with the game. Its always sad when a division comes to a close, but there's always fun memories that the participants can look back on when thinking about the experience with the game.
The DDO division was structured a bit differently than Planetside and World of Warcraft, other MMO games TIA has been involved in. The basic idea was a once a week structure with certain characters to keep everyone close and keep our adventures the same. It is kind of a throwback to the way classic pen and paper D&D was done with a weekly meeting. It worked very well in this case keeping the groups together, although frustrating at times when someone could not make it and rescheduling for the week was not successful. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable approach to an MMO game that eliminated some group problems that are often found in the genre.
Special thanks to all the participants who played DDO with the division:
Arkady (TONK SMASH!!) Davyn Dr Moocowz FireEater Mothfarmer Prometheus Quarmal Zombious
Taking a bit of a trip down memory lane, here's some screenshots. Click the image for bigger view.
Here's the final results from the first successful Kobold Assault quest, a test of endurance versus a barrage of 200 kobolds! The mighty barbarian, Uplift (Moo), came through with his promise to "kill at least half" of the enemies by himself!

Soon after this, the other TIA group managed to conquer the same quest, but with less people!

Jumping forward in time, the various groups revised and switched characters around to make adjustments to our overall makeup. In this next shot, the new power of the Niac's Cold Ray is on display. Sometimes fights are hard and sometimes they're not when Moulekai (Moo) can do a 187, D.O.A.! (Combat log in the lower right)

But after some time, some of the challenges are not enough. Then one begins to create their own challenges! Kemp (Moo) shows off soloing The Waterworks before the "Solo" difficulty settings existed, and at a mere level 3!

Same instance, next quest.

There were always the nights when we all could not meet for various reasons and we would use alternate characters. Here's Taya (FireEater), Sarariman (Arkady), and Dimitri (Moo) standing at the elusive "Lone Tree" in the Searing Heights adventure area.

Then how can we forget one of the most difficult and easily unique quests we conquered, The Pit!

More final information from our completion of The Pit.

Overall, we had a very fun and enjoyable run over the past couple of years. For our last quest, we ran through Delera's Tomb, a series of quests with the guest voice DM of the late D&D co-creator, Gary Gygax. This was a fitting end and a nice cap of a farewell run. Pictured on the left is Dimitri (Moo), front and center Keltaren (Prometheus), on the right Tayanne (FireEater), and in the back, the mighty warforged paladin, Tonk!

 Short server downtime(s)
Hi all!
I'm doing some work on the server rack and there will be a couple of short downtimes over the next few days, with maybe a couple more shutdowns over the next month. Most will be 5-10 minutes, one or two stretching to 15-30 minutes.
Also, I'll be upgrading the connection on which this server sits from a 1.5mb Down/640kb UP personal DSL to a "real" business-class connection, probably about 2mbps symmetric, but that may not happen for a few more weeks.
It'll be real low latency. Hmm... I could host a game server on that. Hmmm...

 The Return to ZulAman
A long time ago, a small band of adventurers entered the troll stronghold of Zul'Aman. With difficulty they made their way toward Nalorakk, the bear avatar. Over and over they threw themselves at the beastly troll, but it was to no avail. They retreated, and vowed that one day they would return.
Yesterday was that day.
With renewed purpose, more training, and better gear, the adventurers fought their way back toward Nalorakk.

 2008 NCAA Tourney Results
Here's the final standings for 2008:
1. Krug - 158 2. Marut - 114 3. Mothfarmer - 96 4. comatoast - 92 5. Solo230 - 88 6. Dr Moocowz - 81 7. t00ns - 74 8. Joshiyama - 71 9. vindeejin - 57 10. Arkady - 29
Congratulations go out to Krug for winning this tight race this year! Krug actually had it won after the two semi-final games were played, but we did not have the final standings until after the championship last night. Thanks again to everyone who participated this year and hope to get it going once again in 2009!
It took many days for Moo to get a hold of Krug for an interview from his new mansion he purchased from the tourney winnings. The guard dogs that were hired to keep unwanted reporters are definitely top notch and would advise all not to attempt any unexpected visits. After some careful planning and maneuvering, Moo made it in and got the inside scoop!
Moo: I'm here with Krug, the 2008 |TIA| NCAA Basketball Tourney Champion. Congratulations on winning this year and getting your first TIA related fantasy championship! How does it feel to win this thing?
Krug: Winning always feels better than losing, that's a simple fact of life. Winning with such a dominating run through the final 3 rounds, going 100% over the last 7 games really stands out as an achievement. That's not to say the early rounds are not important, but they certainly become less important with such late game dominance.
I'm surprised that my first victory was from the NCAA Tournament though, as I consider myself a far superior Fantasy Football Manager to Tourney picker. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
Moo: Speaking of dominance, were you aware that your score of 158 points is the highest score posted in the history of the TIA NCAA tourneys?
Krug: I knew a final score of 158 was high; it's certainly my personal best. It's nice for a victory to be record setting, and I think it's a record I'll hold onto for quite some time. I do suspect that the average scores this year were higher than previous years, because all the number 1 seeds made it to the Final Four for the first time ever.
Moo: Did you have any particular strategy on making your picks this year, despite the fact that all four number one seeds have never made it to the final four together?
Krug: One rule I have come to follow originated out of an embarassing bracket from 2004. This bracket was with a bunch of Georgia Tech alumni, and yet only one guy had Georgia Tech going all the way in the tourney. Well he ended up winning handidly, while simultaneously making fools out of the rest of us for not picking our own alma mater. While Georgia Tech didn't beat Conneticutt in the finals, it caused me to create a rule. Always stick with specific teams! It sucks when they lose, but it's better than looking like a complete idiot when they win. Georgia Tech didn't qualify for the NCAA tourney this year, but Kansas did, a team I'll pick to win over anyone but Georgia Tech. It was an easy decision to put them in as the overall champion. I did watch a few conference championship series, and some of my early round picks were based on what I saw in those games. I really thought UGA was going to ride the high of getting into the NCAA tourney (they only got in do to the conference champion auto-bid, their regular season record was not good) to an early round upset of Xavier (turns out that didn't pan out), but all of the number 1 seeds won their conference championships, which is a large reason for me picking them. I didn't expect all four to make it, but I thought at least 3 of them would.
Moo: Normally, I don't accept outside questions from people trying to tell me how to do my interviewing job, but I decided to let this one time question make it through. One of your competitors, Mothfarmer, had this to ask: "Was Krug wearing any clothes when he made his picks?"
Krug: Hmm... That's a hard question to answer. I checked the video logs, but it turns out I didn't fill out the bracket while I was at home. I do tend to wear clothes more often at work, but there are no guarantees. I'm sure Mothfarmer's imagination is running wild imagining an aura of brilliance surrounding me as I made those fortuitous clicks that built my amazing bracket. But that aura is there all the time with or without clothes.
Moo: Speaking about the competition this year, what were your thoughts on your competitors and being very close going into the Final Four?
Krug: This was a really exciting year in the tournament. We had some fantastic early round scores from Moo, Marut, Moth, and coma, and then Rounds 2 and 3 were generally very even in scoring keeping the whole competition very close. We had four people vying for the championship going into the Final Four (nice parity there), but we had a ton more people alive in the tourney (in terms of final rank), since so many people had picked North Carolina and UCLA. It was a great tournament, and it was good to see people still putting up numbers so late into the tournament. Hopefully next year is just as exciting.
Moo: Any final thoughts or comments?
Krug: Hopefully, I can carry the momentum from this win into a solid Fantasy Football season. That is my first love in terms of fantasy sports, and after years of bad gambles and unfortunate injuries, it's time to stop making excuses and start making championships.

 2008 NCAA Final Four Update
Here's the update to our standings for the Final Four.
1. Marut - 98/162 2. Mothfarmer - 96/160 3. Krug - 94/158 4. Solo230 - 88/152 5. Dr Moocowz - 81/97 6. comatoast - 76/140 7. t00ns 74/138 8. Joshiyama - 71/119 9. vindeejin - 57/73 10. Arkady - 29/45
Still pretty close and can see the exceedingly high potential numbers still left with the fact that all the number 1 seeds made it to the final four this year for the first time ever. So here's a breakdown of who can still win the group this year and how.
Marut - North Carolina and Memphis make it to the championship game, the actual champion does not matter. (2/8) Mothfarmer - North Carolina wins the championship and UCLA makes it to the finals (1/8) Krug - Kansas wins the championship (opponent does not matter) or Kansas and Memphis in the finals. (3/8) Solo230 - UCLA wins the championship (opponent does not matter). (2/8)
So very close and could be over with on April 5th when the games start back up or April 7th when the championship is played.
As far as the top 3 goes, the 4 people mentioned above will fill out the top 3 in the majority of the scenarios, however here are the exceptions.
comatoast - 3rd place if North Carolina wins the championship t00ns - 2nd place if UCLA wins the championship Joshiyama - 3rd place if UCLA wins the championship and Kansas makes it to the final
Good luck to the participants the rest of the way and thanks again for making this annual event successful once again. Everyone's favorite interviewer, Moo, will be in contact with the champion for an exclusive interview, so be sure to stay tuned to www.tribe-tia.org, your number one source for NCAA TIA news!

 2008 NCAA Sweet-16 Update
Here's our standings after the first 2 rounds of the NCAA tourney.
1. Marut - 46/166 2. Dr Moocowz - 45/161 3. Solo - 44/168 3. Mothfarmer - 44/164 3. comatoast - 44/140 6. Krug - 42/166 6. t00ns 42/162 8. Joshiyama - 39/155 9. vindeejin - 33/145 10. Arkady - 17/49
As you can see, its still very tight. I checked through some scenarios and everyone, except vindeejin and Arkady still have a shot to win. vindeejin can come close, but Dr Moocowz's picks are very similar to yours and he would be ahead of you, although 2nd place is still very much an option. Arkady has been eliminated from any scenario that would make him a winner or even in the top 3.
Everyone else still has a shot, although some are quite subtle and depend on a lot of factors. One interesting one to me was comparing Mothfarmer and Marut. Their picks are identical for the rest of the way out except for who is in the championship game. So for Moth, unless Memphis makes it to the championship game instead of UCLA, you will always be 2 points behind Marut.
There are multiple other scenarios as well, but its still too close to call. This next round and the elite 8 will definitely paint a better picture, but its still anyone's game. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way and check back soon for another update!

The tipoff of the first game has begun and our pool has been set.
There WILL be a new champion this year as last year's champion did not sign up. Here's this year's participants:
Arkady comatoast Dr Moocowz Joshiyama Krug Marut Mothfarmer Solo230 t00ns vindeejin
The bit of good news is there won't be any goose eggs this year as everyone filled out a bracket for the most part. Only mishap I saw was Arky didn't pick an overall champion, whoops.
Thanks to everyone who signed up this year and expect an update after each round is completed. Good luck to everyone!

Gary Gygax, D&D Creator, has passed
This is some sad news. There will be some better sources soon as more information is known, but here's the text from http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2008-03-04-Gary-Gygax_N. htm
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — A sad day for fans of role-playing games: The man who co-created Dungeons & Dragons is dead.
Gary Gygax died Tuesday morning at his home in
Lake Geneva, Wis. His wife Gail says the 69-year-old had been suffering
from health problems for several years.
Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons
in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game
known for its oddly shaped dice eventually was turned into video games,
books and movies.
It's considered the grandfather of fantasy
role-playing games and has inspired legions of adoring fans. Gygax's
wife says he always enjoyed hearing from them.
Just a bit of my own commentary here. I can't say that I personally ever played any pen and paper version of Dungeons & Dragons, but his creation and his influence can be seen in any form of RPG today, whether is a board game, a computer game, or any of the fantasy based MMOs of today. I think its important for anyone who has ever enjoyed any sort of RPG game ever to acknowledge what his D&D creation brought to the world and pay their respects. Thanks for everything you've done, good sir! This is for you.

 2007 TIA Fantasy Football Champion
On Sunday evening, December 30th, the championship match of the 2007 TIA Fantasy Football League was completed as Mothfarmer defeated Scrynne in a fairly low scoring match, 69.50 - 59.50. Congrats go out to Mothfarmer on winning the league this year!
Here's the final standings on how Yahoo will observe them:
1. Mothing Farmers 2. TheLHDs 3. Arlington Apostles 4. Crimson Tide! 5. Aba Rockets 6. Alaskan Asshatts 7. coma's Cripplers 8. Monday Night Moocowz 9. Pack Leader 10. Tibetan Monks 11. Fighting Pseudopods 12. West Sydney Swans
Good league once again this year and already looking forward to next year! Stay tuned in February as we will also do our annual NCAA Basketball Tourney Pick'em!
Once again, our resident and favorite fantasy sports interviewer, Moo, managed to land the exclusive interview with the champion. Its rumored that the champion was out on a drinking binge and in a coma in an alley for several days celebrating the victory, which explains the delay for the interview.
Moo: I'm here with Mothfarmer, the 2007 |TIA| Fantasy Football Champion. First off, congratulations on winning the league this year, its seems that you were due, being in the playoffs every year since the league was started. How does it feel to get your first championship?
Mothfarmer: It felt good. I knew it’d be a rough season with all the stiff competition this year and to win it all, just an amazing feeling. You should try it sometime!
Moo: As some people may or may not know, Scrynne and yourself have been friends for many years prior to even being in TIA. Both of you also share a common achievement of making it into the playoffs all three years of the league's existence. What was that like playing and defeating him in the championship match?
Mothfarmer: It’s true, the TheLHD and I go way back (sheesh it’s been 20+ years!). To be honest, TheLHD normally gets the upper hand in most of the competitions we have against each other. To get this one win… let’s just say I’m not gonna let TheLHD forget who bet him this year when it mattered the most. *pokes* TheLHD
Moo: What's been your key to doing consistently well in this league and becoming victorious this year? Draft day? Free agent pickups? Combination of things?
Mothfarmer: Hmmm I’d say the most important aspect of doing well is to have the support at home. Having a loving wife and two kids at home to encourage me along the way to victory is a huge help. Too bad my wife finished in fifth place… (Marut…I told you not to take Manning with the first pick!) Also, picking up Derek Anderson (as free agent) didn’t hurt.
Moo: What were your thoughts on the league's annihilation of last year's dominate champion, snitz? He had a very brutal year.
Mothfarmer: Well, ever since the Wombats were caught filming the other teams signals from the sidelines they lost their edge, it’s no wonder they fell so hard. Now, if only the Pats could find a way to lose…
Moo: Any final thoughts or comments to your competitors?
Mothfarmer: I'm going to Wally World!

Our First Encounter With the Curator
There he is: the big bad construct run amok. Last night was our very first attempt on the Curator. We got him to 50% on one try, which isn't bad! Pump up the dps some more and he is going down.
Meanwhile, how many times did I die on the trash leading up to him? I lost count. So enjoy a pic of me and Mothfarmer dead on the floor. Too bad I didn't have Doleamite in that screenshot too. He died about as much as I did!

 DDO Group Completes 100th Quest
The DDO group completed its 100th quest last night as we began work on the Litany of the Dead series, Part 2.
It was a very long night as we swam through a very tedious, three-dimensional, underwater cavern to take on many different types of hard to hit incorporeal monsters. The Tomb of the Shadow Guard provided only a few deaths, but a lot patience in retracing back through the area just resume the journey back to defeat the final mummy guardian.
I've been very pleased with the DDO division in general with the disciplined approach we've adopted since its inception. Considering our normal meeting schedule of once a week with there frequently being no meeting due to other real life conflicts, this is an accomplishment to be proud of. Thanks to all the current members of the group and others in the past who've contributed along the way!
I did not realize it was the 100th quest until after looking at our running quest log, so there's no screenshot. Instead, here's a picture of a stuffed lion!

 Football Draft Complete
The 2007 TIA Fantasy Football had the live draft last night, with an excellent turnout once again. We once again had Yahoo determine a random draft order for the league and here is the order for this year:
1. GABRIEL 2. Marut 3. Arkady 4. Scrynne 5. -Stryder- 6. Mothfarmer 7. Joshiyama 8. snitz 9. comatoast 10. Bomaye 11. Dr Moocowz 12. Krug
All the teams look good right now, as they usually do at the beginning of the year. Had a good time on TS as well chatting and talking a bit of trash!
First week of scoring is Sept 4th - Sept 10th! First actual game is Thursday Sept. 6th, Colts vs Saints! Be sure to have your lineups ready to go.
Should be another great year!

 2007 NCAA Tourney Final Results
Here's our final standings for this year:
1. FreshMeat - 146 2. comatoast - 123 3. Dr Moocowz - 116 4. vols1986 - 115 5. Krug - 102 6. Throcktor - 90 7. Bomaye - 87 8. Joshiyama - 86 9. Scrynne - 74 10. Mothfarmer - 74 11. Marut - 69 12. Arkady - 35 13. Solo230 - 0
Congratulations to FreshMeat once again for going back-to-back on winning! It was an excellent, record participation this year and hope to be even more successful next year. Now we take it to our traditional fantasy sports interviewer, Moo!
Moo: I am here with the 2007 |TIA| NCAA Basketball Tournament Pool Champion, FreshMeat! FreshMeat is the first TIA member to not only win two championships, but has done so back to back. FreshMeat, wtf?
FreshMeat: Well Moo, first of all, I want to thank God and Jesus my Lord and Savior for giving me the gift of clicking a mouse button. Overall, it was dumb ass luck winning last year, however, much planning and resourcefulness won it for me this year.
Moo: o rly? What kind of planning and resourcefulness?
FreshMeat: Well, my Udder Bearing friend, this year I actually read up on the teams I was picking. I also didn't fall into the trap of picking too many upsets. I basically stuck to my guns, and since I really don't have any college association I didn't have any biases.
Moo: Seems to most observers you just picked the champion from last year, Florida, and did not have too many risks overall, like you said, even though there's usually quite a few upsets in the tournament each year. What do you say to your critics... well let me quote you on what one of your competitors, comatoast, has said on the matter, "Any pussy can pick the higher seeds and be pretty secure in his predictions. This year was one of the fewest upset years in recent memory. Did you see the SNL skit where the college floozy had the right predictions for nearly every game guessing on cuteness or favorite color? Yeah, that's basically what you accomplished, you prick!"
FreshMeat: Ok... well, I don't know much coma, but two wins in a row is all the answer I need to give him or anyone. Florida was a major favorite to be in the final 2. However, there was alot of skeptisism about whether they could win back to back. Florida in the past has owned Ohio state. I didn't feel UCLA was capable of beating Florida after they lost the number 1 ranking in a game they lost earlier. There was too much hype about Georgetown being too young to win. And Mephis, oh please. I decided to go with Florida because they were underdogs to go two in a row. Plus they have my boy Noah!
Moo: What were your thoughts on the rest of the competition this year? Seemed to be very close all the way down to the wire with five people, including yourself, with the Final Four still be to played.
FreshMeat: Oh, I definately agree, those who remained on top did a fantastic job with their picks. I was pretty nervous at the start of the game yesterday, especially in the first 5-8 minutes of the game it looked as if Ohio St. was actually gonna be able to pull away. However, as Florida started to settle down and they were able to pull into a 10 point lead going into the half, I felt much more confident in my chances of riding their coat tails to a repeat victory. My props to everyone who participated and made the bracket fun to follow.
Moo: Any final thoughts or comments?
FreshMeat: Thanks to Dr Moocowz for hosting yet another great fantasy tournament. I'll see everyone next year as I get ready for a Threepeet! Peace Out.

2007 NCAA Tourney Final Four Update
More basketball has been played and we're down to the Final Four in the NCAA... but NOT in the TIA pool! The current standings are somewhat meaningless at this point because there's still 5 teams that can win it.
1. Dr Moocowz - 100/164 2. FreshMeat - 98/146 3. comatoast - 91/155 4. Throcktor - 90/106 5. Bomaye - 87/103 6. Joshiyama - 86/134 6. krug - 86/150 8. vols1986 - 83/147 9. Scrynne - 74/74 9. Mothfarmer - 74/122 11. Marut - 69/117 12. Arkady - 35/35 13. Solo230 - 0/0
So that's the current standings going into the Final Four. There are 5 people left who have a shot at winning and they are: comatoast, Dr Moocowz, FreshMeat, Joshiyama, and krug. Here are the scenarios of how victory will be obtained:
Florida wins all = FreshMeat wins. Other game doesn't matter. UCLA wins all = Joshiyama wins. Other game doesn't matter. Georgetown wins all = krug wins. Other game doesn't matter. Ohio St. wins all and Florida in the final game = comatoast wins. Ohio St. wins all and UCLA in the final game = Dr Moocowz wins.
That's our five scenarios. The rest of the standings are fairly erattic depending on the game outcomes, so I won't play all of those out here this time. But an excellent pool this year with everyone who participated. Usually there's maybe 3 people at the most who still has a shot at this point, but there was some excellent picking and a lot of Final Fours, championship games, and champs are still alive.
The semifinals will be played on Saturday March 31st and the championship game will happen on Monday April 2nd. It is a guarantee that 2 people will be left for the final game, so it should be a good one!

 2007 NCAA Tourney Sweet-16 Update
The first two rounds of the basketball tourney have passed and we've had a great competition so far in our group, with at least 4 different people on top of the leaderboard throughout the weekend.
Here's our current standings:
1. FreshMeat - 50/178 2. Dr Moocowz - 48/172 3. comatoast - 47/175 4. Throcktor - 46/175 5. vols1986 - 43/159 6. krug - 42/162 6. Scrynne - 42/158 6. Joshiyama - 42/158 9. Marut - 41/149 10. Bomaye - 39/103 11. Mothfarmer - 38/150 12. Arkady - 35/43 13. Solo230 - 0/0
As you can see, its still pretty close across the board and the biggest points are yet to be had!
Solo230 wins the Dumbass Award for forgetting to fill out his bracket. Way to go! We all can hardly wait for the reply of, "yeah if I would've remembered, I'd be kicking your asses! LOL"
Arkady wins the Most Creative/Entertaining Award for his bracket picks. I don't think I've ever seen an entire Final Four be wiped out after the first round, ever. At least you can say you beat our old Tribes 1 buddy, Solo! If it plays out correctly, you could finish in an impressive 9th place ahead of Solo, Mothfarmer, Bomaye, and Joshiyama, although that'd be a Final Four of UNLV, Pittsburgh, Vandebuilt, and Tennessee. It could happen!
In addition to Arkady and Solo, Bomaye is statistically eliminated from winning this year, although 2nd and 3rd is still plausible. Someone will be ahead in any scenario I could create with all your correct picks still intact.
The other interesting case is vols1986. He can still win, however if the rest of his picks are perfect and North Carolina makes it to the Final Four, he'll finish in a 1st place tie with comatoast!
Everyone else is still up for grabs for winning! (I checked every scenario) Some are in better positions than others (Marut is hanging on by a thread), but the next round will weed a few people out of top contention, but I think this could possibly be decided on the final game!
The Sweet-16 games will begin on Thursday, March 22nd!

 2007 TIA NCAA Basketball Pool
Its that time of year again for our 4th annual TIA NCAA basketball tourney.
This is a free service that's available to TIA members only and has been a fun activity for all participants over the past few years and makes for some fun conversations with your other teammates both inside and outside of our gaming.
Previous Winners:
2004 - Anteros 2005 - Dr Moocowz 2006 - FreshMeat
Who will win this year? Could be YOU!
There is a thread in the generic private section of the forums for signup info and I encourage all members to participate. You really don't have to know anything about college basketball to be successful and does not take much of a time commitment at all.
Good luck to this year's participants!

 2006 TIA Fantasy Football Champion
The playoffs are over and the dust has cleared, snitz is this year's 2006 TIA Fantasy Football Champion!
Krug and snitz squared off in the finals to determine who gets the title of champion for this year, and snitz came through victorious in a very close battle.
Here's the final standings as Yahoo! will observe them.
1. West Sydney Wombats 2. Lordaeron Lepers 3. The LHDs 4. Mothing Farmers 5. -Asshatts- 6. Shadows Edge 7. Not In The Face! 8. Last Years Champ! 9. Pack Leaders 10. coma's Crushers 11. Monday Night Moocowz 12. Freshy's Fresh Team
Good year all around for the league and congratulations to snitz once again.
I had a chance to interview snitz and heeeeereee weeeee goooo!
Moo: How does it feel to win the 2006 TIA Fantasy Football League?
snitz: After
the long hard days of training and practice, it feels good for all the
hard work to have payed off, Really makes you feel all soft inside.
Moo: What were your thoughts on the competition this year?
snitz: It was a hard long season with close games and the occasional blowout.
Moo: Any particular strategy you used during the draft or during the year to
help you succeed?
snitz: Don't pick players based on them being from the team
you suppourt. It never works out.
Moo: What were your thoughts this past weekend going into the championship match versus Krug?
snitz: He was the only person to defeat me during the regular season. The final was close, it was the best final that could be had.
Moo:
Any final comments to your competitors this year and any future
competition for next year?
snitz: Maybe one day if you try really really hard,
you can be just like me.

 Tangleroot Gorge Conquered
The Tuesday Night group in the DDO division conquered Tangleroot Gorge last night, a series of 10 seperate quests on the Assault on Splinterskull.
The group first set foot in Tangleroot Gorge in June and finally completed the last step of it last night. This is an excellent accomplishment by the 4 person team of Arkady, Dr Moocowz, FireEater, and Prometheus, especially considering it was only a 4-person team and underleveled for the last 2 quests (4 quests really).
Expect the Saturday Night group to follow in these footsteps very soon as well.

 2006 NCAA TIA Tourney Results
The final results are in!
1 FreshMeat - 82 2 Marut - 70 3 Joshiyama - 67 (won the tiebreaker) 4 Mothfarmer - 67 5 Dr Moocowz - 65 6 Bomaye - 53 7 comatoast - 52 8 krug - 42 9 felaah - 21
Congratulations to this year's winner, FreshMeat!
It took me a few days to get through the miles and miles of media surrounding him after his victory. After denying numerous interviews with other sources, he finally agreed to sit down with Moo! Here it is!
Moo: How does it feel to win the 2006 NCAA TIA Tourney Pool?
FreshMeat: Well, I feel humbled to have been a participant in this year's tourney. All of this year's participants were fierce competitors.
Moo: What were your thoughts on the competition this year?
FreshMeat: There was competition? lol!!! j/k There were a lot of great teams and plenty of good teams to upset the balance of the top seeds, so it was really anyone's game.
Moo: Any particular strategy or methods to your picks for the tourney?
FreshMeat: Quite honestly, I had no strategy at all. In fact, I don't even follow college basketball. My picks were quite lame in my opinion and I am quite surprised I won.
Moo: Any thoughts going into the LSU vs UCLA game that would determine the winner between yourself and Mothfarmer?
FreshMeat: I really expected LSU to beat UCLA after the their poor performance over Gonzaga.
Moo: Any final comments to your competitors this year and any future competition for next year?
FreshMeat: Well... GG's all. Better luck next year. Mo, next year don't forget to pick the winner of the tourney. To all my fans thank you for your love and dedication. Thanks to Moo for organizing the tourney. Peace out.

2006 NCAA Tourney Update - Final Four
The tournament is up for grabs by 2 people, Mothfarmer and FreshMeat.
Update of the standings for the Final Four
1 Mothfarmer - 67 of 67 2 FreshMeat - 66 of 114 3 Dr Moocowz - 65 of 65 4 Marut - 54 of 70 5 Bomaye - 53 of 53 6 comatoast - 52 of 52 7 Joshiyama - 51 of 99 8 krug - 42 of 42 9 felaah - 21 of 21
Its a pretty simple scenario this time around since most everybody blew the last games
It all comes down to the LSU vs UCLA game.
If LSU wins, the standings will remain where they are currently and Mothfarmer will be the winner.
If UCLA wins, FreshMeat will win and the championship game is irrelevent in determining the winner.
There are some other side effects in the standings based on UCLA wins.
If UCLA wins vs LSU and loses in the championship vs Florida or George Mason, Marut will move up to 2nd place and Joshiyama will be tied with Mothfarmer for 3rd place.
If UCLA wins the whole thing, Joshiyama will be in 2nd and Marut in 3rd.
So there you have it. Overall winner will be determined after the UCLA vs LSU game on April 1st.
I'll plan on doing an exclusive interview with the winner and post it for the whole world to see

 2006 NCAA TIA Tourney - Round 2
Ok, Round 2 ended Sunday evening and we're at the Sweet-16 in the tourney. This is where we start filtering out who's got a legitimate shot as the later games are worth waaay more points.
Here's the standings after round 2.
Dr Moocowz - 49 of 161 Bomaye - 45 of 157 Mothfarmer - 43 of 159 FreshMeat - 42 of 150 comatoast - 40 of 156 krug - 38 of 142 Marut - 38 of 82 Joshiyama - 31 of 135 felaah - 21 of 33
Mothfarmer and comatoast have not lost any of their final four picks. Dr Moocowz, Bomaye, FreshMeat, krug, and Joshiyama have all lost 1 of their final four picks, but they were not chosen to be in the championship. Marut has lost 2 of her final four picks, 1 of which was chosen to be in the championship, and she forgot to pick a final champion, oops And lastly, poor felaah has lost 3 of his final four, including both teams in the championship game/champion.
Still a ton of potential points left across most of the board. Remember at this time last year, Bomaye was leading the pack with 51 points, 10 ahead of 2nd place. There was also a 3-way tie for last place with 37 points... and one of those in last place ended up winning Bottom line is its still almost anybody's ball game! Games will resume play March 23rd.

 2006 NCAA TIA Tourney - Round 1
Interesting round 1!
It still looks to be pretty competitive overall. Here's the current standings after the round 1 games.
Dr Moocowz - 27 FreshMeat - 24 Marut - 24 comatoast - 24 Mothfarmer - 23 krug - 22 Bomaye - 21 Joshiyama - 17 felaah - 13
A few people took some major hits, but none worse than felaah, losing his champion in the 1st round You never know you might still get lucky if everything else left is correct.
Good luck to all with the remaining games!

 Majordomo Executus Down
This was by far our most successful week in Molten Core to date. On Friday, The Horde brought down 6 Bosses! On Saturday we took down Majordomo & had our first ever look at Ragnaros. Great job to everyone who participated and to Eh and FireEater for putting together a great RAID once again. Be sure to check out www.thehorde.org for your current DKP standings. Please be sure to check your point totals for acuracy. For discrepancies please send an ingame email to Eh or Quarmal.

 The Horde Brought Down Golemagg
Another one bites the dust. Last Saturday our coalition of guilds known as The Horde brought down Golemagg the Incinerator. Great job to everyone who participated this past Saturday.
In addition to Golemagg we had our first look at Majordomo Executus. It's just a matter of time until he meets the same fate as Golemagg.

 The Horde Brings Down Sulfuron
On Saturday night, our alliance brought down Sulfuron on our 1st try. Great job to everyone, especially those who bowed out so we could get some extra Priests in the fight. Great job on the strat planning and to FireDevourer for leading us to victory.
We attempted to take on Golemag Saturday night as well, we had him down to 1/4 health, until we lost our tanks. It was a valiant effort for our first try. Now we can go into the fight next time knowing what to expect from the fight. He will go down next time we face him.
Eh also made a nice little video of our Sulfuron fight. You can down load it here:

Down Goes Shazzrah... Down Goes Shazzrah!
What a rally to the end!!! After 2 failed attempts, The Horde of Kilrogg, an alliance of Agents of Doom, Dark Souls, Los Pollos De La Noche, The Demons Edge, The Insane Asylum and Twisted Fate brought down Shazzrah. It looked like we were down for the count for the 3rd time, but due to a timely Curse of Doom, by Nahar of The Insane Asylum, Shazzrah went down. Great job everyone for sticking together and working hard to bring down the MC house!! Below is a special video I cooked up this evening.

 Happy 6th Birthday TIA!
Somewhere near the end of November(exact date unknown), The Insane Asylum |TIA| will be 6 years old! The original Tribes 1 division was started somewhere near the end of November in 1999, and we've had some sort of game we've played ever since.
Not impressed, eh? Let's sit for a minute and think about that. 6 years... where and what were you doing 6 years ago? Something completely different that you're doing currently? If you have kids, perhaps they were at different schools, or graduated from high school or college, or maybe not even born yet? Or if you're still a youngin', perhaps you weren't even a teenager yet? Think about all the teams and guilds you've seen in whatever you've played in the past or currently play that can't last for 2 months let alone ONE year.
Also, think about all the good memories that have happened with TIA in the past 6 years. Some of my personal favorites I can think of offhand would include:
- Taking #1 on the Tribes 2 12-man base ladder
- T2 base team sticking through that last season in BEML despite most people not wanting to play
- Getting that overtime cap on SpinCycle for our first match win in Tribes 1
- Watching the enthusiasm of everyone when a new game starts(Planetside and T2 had a lot)
That's just to name a few. Feel free to post others you have!
Six years is a remarkable accomplishment for an online organization, especially considering that the majority of us have not even met each other in person There's not too many other gaming organizations out there that can claim to actively be around longer(there are some!), but this mark just shows the type of people we are and why we recruit carefully to share the long-term vision of having like minded people play games together in a friendly and fun environment. So kudos to all the TIA members, none of it would've happened without all of you sticking through the hard times and enhancing all the good times!
Six years old? Guess we DEFINITELY have to start Kindergarten now

 Magmadar Dies - WoW
Last night we finally took down the big dog! A coalition of 40 players from the guilds The Insane Asylum, Empire of Lost Souls, Twisted Fate, Shadow and Flame, Agents of Doom and Los Pollos de la Noche entered the Molten Core dungeon in World of Warcraft, fought our way past Molten Giants, Firelords, Lava Annihilators, Lava Surgers, Ancient Core Hounds and Imps, downed the packs of Core Hounds, and found ourselves face to face with Magmadar.
We're not sure what Magmadar has been eating (maybe all those imps?) but man that dog has bad breath. We made Zhakar our warrior stand there and hold Magmadar's head while the rest of us stood WAY back or moved around to the backside. Even so, Mag would often spit at the rest of us, and boy that stuff is caustic! Clearly the dog was not used to people, because he went nuts, fearing us and going into frenzies. Thank goodness the hunters Moocowz and Kamodo had some tranquilizing shots to calm Mag down.
There was nothing for it but to put that dog down!
Here's looking forward to more adventures in the Molten Core!

 WoW Guild Night, Sep 8
Hello, my name is Lessa and I'm the Guild Night Coordinator for
Thursday nights. I try to run instance groups that help people
with gear/quests starting at 7 PM. If you are in the guild, I
encourage you to sign up in advance in the WoW Events Forum area to let
me know your interest and/or if you will be late. I try to start
promtly (okay, start organizing promptly) at 7 PM and the groups
usually get going no later than 7:30.
The groups I put together:
For Black Rock Depths (BRD):
Seraphel (Hunter), Moocowz (Hunter), Zeemazz (Shaman), Monan (Warrior), & Pennonteller (Mage)
They wiped before the emperor and couldn't get a replacement healer for
Zee who needed sleep and noted that a shaman wasn't sufficient for the
emperor. This was the best group we could come up with for two
hunters, which both needed quests done. Monan and Pennon also
needed quests. I'd love to know how it went and if there are any
thoughts to share.
For Dire Maul West (DM, west) run:
Zhakar (warrior), Trydoran (druid), Scrynne (mage), Quarmal (rogue) and Cadfael (priest)
I know they killed the prince who refused to drop
my sword
and the dog
that refused to drop
my robe,
so it is okay that I didn't get to
go. More
seriously, congrats to them on killing the prince and I know there was
a nice +healing
ring that dropped.
For Strat Liveside run:
Wiki, Lessa, Arakkis, Grexxar (TF), and Kamodo (TF)
We had some problems on this run, concentrating around on being sloppy
during pulls/fights. I think most people aren't used to 5-manning
strat
and so we had some new things to learn and it was hard to communicate
since Kamodo couldn't hear us on voice and Arakkis could hear but not
talk. We made it to the hallway before the Archivist before we
wiped without a soul stone for the second time that run and it was 11
PM. I finished out a quest and we did the postmaster (and that
was wipe #1 w/o soul stone). Something to share with everyone: Do
NOT face pull sapped/seduced humaniods in the hallways of the Scarlet
Castle. DO pull them with arrows/knives. There are often
more mobs hiding around corners that will pull if you face pull the
sapped mob.

Insane Adventures: Attuned to the Core!
Sunday September 04, 2005
A group of us got together to run a 10 man attunement run for Canible and Fireconsumer. The run also included Zeemazz, Promtheustp, Cadfael, Mostr, Lodos, Moocowz and Kahreign. The run was very productive as we were able to help two additional guildie's toons become attuned. Not only did we accomplish the Attunement, but walked out with some nice loot and executed some nicely strategized pulls. As rare as it may seem for a BRD run, no on died - and that is even after clearing the bar with no wipes! Of the notable winnings, Canible won a Ghostshroud from the Seven Dwarves loot, Moocowz won the Wayfarer's Knapsack - a unique 16 slot bag from Ribbly Screwspigot and Cannible won the Barman Skanker from Plugger Spazzering.
Here are the thotbott.com links to some of the notable loot won last night by some of our members:
Ghostshroud - http://www.thottbot.com/?i=7249 Wayfarer's Knapsack - http://www.thottbot.com/?i=17994 Barman Skanker - http://www.thottbot.com/?i=14900
The notable pull of the evening was in the upper bar area. Facing a elite Firelord and 5 elite paladins in the upper bar area, Kahreign and Cannible eecuted a nicely timed sap pull. Cannible doesn't use improved sap, and Kahreign does, so we timed the saps to be one right after the other. Putting two of the elites out of commission while the rest of the group worked to bring down the 4 remaining mobs quickly and effortlessly. The last time we visited the bar we attempted to clear this spot and wiped 2 times. This was a great accomplishment for the guild and testament to how we have grown from our experiences in the Molten Core and working together.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the last nights attunement run and for making this event fun and memorable for all involved. If you have a toon who is level 58 and higher and would like to have him/her attuned to the core or have an opportunity to win some of the phat loot you see here, you can do it in Black Rock Depths (BRD). We would like to get as many of you attuned as possible, and only need to know your interest. Please send a tell to one of your officers or post a request for help in our Event Attendance forum.
Thank you and Happy Hunting! FreshMeat Guild Membership Coordinator

 Email Problems
Attention TIA Members, TIA Applicants, and other forum users.
I realize there's a problem with the forum (you either get a 404 error after posting sometimes or a more descriptive error on a send_mail function sometimes).
I've been working with the server admin to figure out the problem/find a solution. Unfortunately, its being quite difficult.
So if you are a potential applicant and sent an application... say within the past month, it probably didn't get sent.
WoW is the only division recruiting currently. If you wish to apply, do your best to email the same info from the application page to FreshMeat, jchotchkiss (at) comcast (dot) net
Apologize for any inconvenience.
If we can't get the issue resolved, I'm going to have to come up with another alternative and may turn forum email notifications off. I may do that anyway to see if its a quick fix to the forum problem.

 TIA NCAA Tourney - Results
The results are in...
1 Dr Moocowz - 141 2 LostSoul - 113 3 Blaise - 107 4 Joshiyama - 106 5 comatoast - 101 6 Mothfarmer - 100 7 Bomaye - 99 8 Furious Girl - 62 9 t00ns - 41 10 Rufus - 0 10 FreshMeat - 0
Dr Moocowz wins the 2005 TIA NCAA Tourney. I had a chance to speak with Dr Moocowz in an exclusive, post-game interview.
Moo: Dr Moocowz, how does it feel to come out on top of this prestigious tournament?
Dr Moocowz: Well Moo, it feels pretty good. Usually in these brackets, I'm lucky if I get one of the Final Four correct and my champion is out in the 2nd round. But this year, I felt I had a pretty good shot banking a lot on Louisville whereas no one else did. Louisville provided the edge to my victory. Additionally, I grew up in Indiana, so I know a bit about the Big 10, and to form, they usually choke which is why I bet against Illinois.
Moo: What did you think of the competition this year in the TIA tourney pool?
Dr Moocowz: I think it went a whole lot better than last year. We had more participants and it just made everything more fun. I'm disappointed last year's champion didn't even bother to show up, but I'm sure he would've went by the wayside like everyone else! Hell, two of the people this year saw my name was listed and they just go too sc-sc-sc-scaared to even try!
Moo: What were your thoughts going into the championship game?
Dr Moocowz: What's my thoughts? What the hell do you think my thoughts were, junior!? Even though it was a very slim lead in both the actual game and the tourney standings, I had to be like Pee-Wee Herman in a movie theater, I had to hold my own!
Moo: Any final comments to your competitors?
Dr Moocowz: Yes, as champion for 2005, I've given, no no, I've EARNED myself the self-proclaimed title of MISTER El Moocowzo de los Basketball Magnífico! And if you got a problem with that, you'll have to take me out in next year's tourney! Its been YOUR pleasure!

 TIA NCAA Tourney - Championship
Championship game tonight between Illinois and North Carolina.
Depending on the winner of the game will determine the winner of the pool.
If Illinois wins, Blaise wins, comatoast 2nd, mothfarmer 3rd, bomaye 4th, Moocowz 5th.
If UNC wins, Moocowz wins, LostSoul 2nd, Blaise 3rd, Joshiyama 4th.
Even though deep down I want Illinois to win (since they've never won a championship AND they're in the Big 10), Go UNC (ouch, that felt dirty to say )

TIA NCAA Tourney - Final Four Update
The tournament is up for grabs by 3 people, Bomaye, Blaise, and Dr Moocowz.
Update of the standings for the Final Four
1 Bomaye - 83 of 131 2 Dr Moocowz - 77 of 141 3 Blaise - 75 of 139 4 comatoast - 69 of 133 5 Mothfarmer - 68 of 132 6 LostSoul - 65 of 113 7 Furious Girl - 62 of 62 8 Joshiyama - 58 of 106 9 t00ns - 41 of 41
Ok, here's the scenarios for the 3 mentioned above to win.
Bomaye - If UNC loses vs Michigan St. and Illinois wins the whole thing, Bomaye will win. OR if UNC loses vs Michigan St. AND Illinois loses vs Louisville, Bomaye will win.
Dr Moocowz - If UNC wins the whole thing, despite of what happens in the Illinois vs Louisville game, Dr Moocowz wins. OR if Illinois loses vs Louisville and UNC simply beats Michigan St., Dr Moocowz wins. Dr Moocowz actually gains more if Illinois loses to Louisville, because it hurts everyone more than it hurts me Go Louisville!
Blaise - Blaise can only win if Illinois wins the whole thing AND UNC defeats Michigan St.
Those are the scenarios above for the 3 potential winners. Everyone else can not win the whole thing because any combinations left in the games allows one of the 3 above to win.
However, there can still be some dramatic shifts between 2nd - 6th place. If Illinois wins the whole thing, Bomaye, Blaise, comatoast, and Mothfarmer will finish ahead of the cow. If UNC wins the whole thing, Dr Moocowz defeats all, but LostSoul and Joshiyama will take 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
So there you have it. Winner may possibly be determined after the games April 2nd, and definitely after April 4th.
comatoast should get his box of random shit ready to send to "teh winnar" *hint hint*
Just for the record, even though I need UNC to win, they're the team I like the least of the 4 I like Louisville the best(and actually hope they win the whole thing), followed by Illinois, then Michigan St., then UNC.

TIA NCAA Tourney Update - Round 2
Update of the standings after Round 1
1 Bomaye - 51 2 LostSoul - 41 3 Mothfarmer - 40 4 Blaise - 39 5 Furious Girl - 38 5 Joshiyama - 38 7 t00ns - 37 7 comatoast - 37 7 Dr Moocowz - 37
Bomaye has a significant lead and is the only one left with all 4 of his final four picks still in the tourney.
LostSoul, Blaise, Joshiyama, comatoast, and Dr Moocowz have lost only 1 final four pick. Mothfarmer has lost 2 final four picks, but were not selected to go onto the final round. Furious Girl lost one final four pick, but was her pick to win the whole thing. And lastly, t00ns has lost 2 final four picks, one of which was the pick for the champion.
So that's the update of the current status and big losses for everyone. Everyone starts off with a potential 192 points and it goes down as you make bad picks, especially on teams that go further down the line. The potential points for everyone is as follows...
1 Bomaye - 51 of 175 2 LostSoul - 41 of 153 3 Mothfarmer - 40 of 140 4 Blaise - 39 of 151 5 Furious Girl - 38 of 98 5 Joshiyama - 38 of 142 7 t00ns - 37 of 85 7 comatoast - 37 of 145 7 Dr Moocowz - 37 of 145
so you can see its still quite close with the potential left, but the stakes are much higher and the games are worth more points. will be interesting to watch in the next round of the sweet 16 and the elite 8.

TIA NCAA Tourney Update - Round 1
Update of the standings after Round 1
Its a 9 way standings instead of 11 because Rufus and FreshMeat are too big of losers to remember to fill out their brackets! Though we knew Rufus would've lost since Kansas lost in the first round
1 Bomaye - 25 2 Mothfarmer - 24 2 Furious Girl - 24 4 comatoast - 23 4 t00ns - 23 4 Blaise - 23 7 Joshiyama - 22 8 LostSoul - 21 9 Dr Moocowz - 19
slow and steady is the tortoise, teh Moocowz shall make a comeback!

TIA Wins First T:V TWL Match!
What a way to kick off the T:V competition with a couple of nailbiters! [SOW] gave us a hell of a fight and all respect and hats tipped to them!
Match Results Cavern - 10-9 Arid - 2-2 OT Win!
Cavern was a seesaw battle right out of the gate! There had to be at least 4-5 lead changes throughout the entire match. TIA made a lot of good plays to pull that one off and I think its needless to say, but we were all sweating the entire time! Fantastic first map!
Arid didn't disappoint either. Wasn't as intense as Cavern, but it still had its moments. Both teams came firing right out of the gate with similar strategies. TIA had the lead 2-1 for a good majority of the map, but SOW broke a flag standoff and tied it up! A few scares after that, but went into sudden death overtime. Overtime was a real barn burner as well! SOW made off with the flag TWICE and go it close to their base, but the TIA offense and the defensive chasers made 2 incredibly nice plays to return the flag home! And of course we can't forget the flag grab by Rufus and getting it most of the way home! Got killed by a bomber on our flag platform and yours truly picked it up and got the game winning cap!! (thanks for doing the hard part for me, Rufus )
Overall, a fine job by both teams and especially to TIA for pulling out the victory on our first ever T:V match!

 Happy Birthday TIA!
Yep, its that time of year again. Back in late November of 1999, The Insane Asylum was established for Tribes 1. We've come a long way from that original idea, but a lot has remained the same.
Happy 5th Birthday TIA!
omg... we're going to start Kindergarten this year

 Upcoming T:V Patch
Guy Welch, of Vivendi Universal Games, confirmed today that a patch for Tribes: Vengeance is slated for release in the near future, during the month of December. Many Tribes fans have been eagerly awaiting this patch, which is rumored to bring the Clan Tag system online at last, among other important changes. Confirmed fixes include the patching of map holes, "various" fixes, and a long-awaited confirmation that anti-cheat support is in the making courtesy of PunkBuster Online Countermeasures. Needless to say, this news couldn’t have come at a better time.

If you can read this, that means the website and forum are back online
Made a few minor cleanups during the downtime, including purging the T2 forum section, creating a T:V news icon, and just some other random cleanups and updates(rough drafts of the Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 sections have content now).

 The end of Tribes 2
Today marked the end for all of us here in TIA for Tribes 2. We played
an "impressive" match against FS and then we all got fired, one by one,
by the dear and queer Dr. Moocowz.
As most of you know, we've been around since the start of T2.
TIA isn't going anywhere though, so don't fret. Our eyes are now
looking towards the brand new horizion called Tribes Vengeance (Or as
TW says, Trives Vegrances).
I sure hope to see you all there.
R.I.P. Tribes 2, you will be missed ...
<3,

All other T2 players wishing to join TIA in this league and ladder, please fill out the classic application to the left (Classic Apply) and click send. One of the classic leaders will get to ur application as soon as possible with a reply!
